updates: recent & upcoming talks

A brief follow-up update from last month's talks (two events on practice, described here):

Excerpts of the text from my talk "Urban Operative | Operative Planning" on operative practices in complexity is now available at Blog:MG (the Office:MG blog), alongside a little annotation. The talk was part of the Columbia GSAPP Urban Planning Program's "Future of Planning Forum" aimed at discussing "the next chapter of urban planning worldwide." I discussed how we plan (i.e., how we make decisions for implementable action) in VUCA contexts, including quickly tracing theories on the practice of planning from the last fifty years.

Additionally, I'm delighted to note that portions of the Forensic Methodology symposium discussion will appear in the next issue of ARPA Journal

Lastly, a reminder: I'll be participating in Columbia's one-day conference on multilingualism, multiculturalism, and the city, "Reading the City" on Friday, 1 May. The full program is now online, and registration is free. It'll be an interesting day discussing teaching the city and teaching with the city.
